4 Ways to Quit Smoking that put another $2500 in my pocket

A while ago I wrote an article for an online magazine to describe how I gave up smoking and hopefully assist others in doing so .........

4 WAYS TO QUIT SMOKING
THAT WON’T AFFECT YOUR
WALLET OR YOUR SANITY

No other Product in the history of the Planet has been more heavily Promoted or played such a dominate role in our culture as the tobacco cigarette. Nowadays it is very clear that smoking is one of the unhealthiest things you can do to yourself, but still, many of us continue to smoke because of the inability to quit the habit.
Aside from more popular methods such as patches & prescription drugs, there are a number of not so well known methods assisting people in their bid to quit smoking.
The fact is you do not need to sign up for the newest Aromatherapy Treatment, become a human pin cushion, or spend a wad of cash on some ancient herb to help you quit smoking.
Here is a list of various methods that have helped me on my journey to a cigarette free existence:

1.    EDUCATE YOURSELF– Educate yourself on smoking facts

Most Smokers do not stop to examine why they do what they do and consequently habits and rituals are formed. Do some research and find out how many people are dying from cigarette related illness each year.  Jump on YouTube and watch the numerous Smoking Ads and take in the messages being conveyed. Work out why it is you feel the need to smoke. Work out the benefits of giving up smoking such as saving money, improving your health and gaining time. Talk to people who have been smokers and have managed to quit. As you become more consciously aware of these things you will be more inclined to make better choices.

2.  THE MOTIVATOR – You can do it

Set little targets and benchmarks for not smoking and reward yourself. Go and visit Lung Cancer Victims, sit-down with them and see what they have to say about smoking.
Think of past challenges that you have conquered and give yourself the confidence that you need to triumph over smoking. If you have kids visualise them smoking- because it’s likely that they will, if they grow up with a smoking parent. Maybe an Around the World Trip is in order for making it so far without having a cigarette.

3.  REPLACEMENT THERAPY – Chocolate Anyone

Take up a new hobby or sport that will physically engage you and become passionate about it. Instead of your regular cigarette breaks at work why not use that time to read a magazine. Chew on a piece of gum to overcome cravings and have the added benefit that your relieving stress and fighting cavities at the same time. Snack on some nuts to help keep your hands and mouth busy. Indulge in your favourite chocolate to satisfy the most intense of cravings.

4.  SUPPORT – We Support You

Announce on Facebook that you are planning to or have quit smoking; this will enable your friends and family to support and praise you. Make a bet (a large one) with someone that you are going to go without a smoke for a certain period of time. Join a social media group and seek online support. Wear a shirt that says I beat the Killer Cigarette or something to the same avail. Create a Blog and make yourself accountable by telling the whole world your quitting story.

By using a culmination of methods you will ensure your physical and psychological addiction is met at all angles and with all the powers of the human mind.

See the Brightside of being a non-smoker and help others to come to the same conclusions. Through sharing your experiences, providing supportive environments or in my case writing an article for -Removed-  we can all help Humanity rid itself of this affliction.
